Can Sound Forge 7 do 24/96?
« on: April 13, 2004, 12:24:18 AM »
I have to assume it can, it's professional. Maybe someone can chime in here.

I am trying to set this up with a Vaio. I have a UA5 running into the Viao using USB running SF7 as the rec program. I installed the WMD driver. I can do 16/48 but when attempting to run 24/96, SF says it will not support it using the UA5. Got any ideas how to achieve this? Or can it be done? Or does the other driver need to be installed instead?

Advance switch on the UA-5 turned on? Sample rate properly set on the front of the UA-5?
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

Yes advanced switch is on and the sample rate is selected on the front of the unit.

does the UA-5 show up as UA-5 in the sound forge selection window or does it just say USB audio device ?

I have noticed when using the "basic" drivers it shows as USB audio device when using "advanced" drivers it shows up as UA-5. Just remember if you change selections from advanced to basic or vice versa you have to close out of sound forge and re-open to get it to recognize (at least that has been my experience in Sound Forge 6.0e)

I was just testing 24/96 this weekend in the living room and it was working just fine in 6.0

i just checked SF 6.0 and it is capable of 8 bit, 16, 24, 32, 32 float, 64 and 64 float; and 32-192 khz.  so its probably a driver issues with your laptop
