anyone own a pair of dpa 4061s?  and if so share how you've used this mic.

above my ears clipped to hat, pinned to shoulders, attached to 18" T-bar on a stand, taped to a column, taped to wall, spaced and hung from balcony... I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

i have a pair of dpa 4061s for sale right now so i can buy a pair of DPA 4006s.  the 4061s have been modified for stand mounting by bruce myers at DPA in colorado.  using these little guys is what convinced me to put down the big money for the 4006s - they are really nice mics, especially for the money.  i just used them on a four CD project for a pedal harp player.  let me know if youre interested.

a few people have requested my price on the 4061s.  i paid just over $750 for the mics plus the two microdot>XLR adapters not quite a year ago, and i will take something like $600 OBO.  dont be afraid to make me any offer, as i need to sell them.  thanks for your interest guys.

one other thing to mention - single capsule omni microphones (unlike multi-pattern mics) are true pressure condensers, and thus do not suffer from proximity effects nor loss of bass response in the diffuse field, both of which plague pressure gradient mics (all cardioids and other patterns).

since the dpa 4061 is an omni how far does it have to be away from another 4061 to avoid phase cancellation?

i havent had a problem with phase and i have used the 4061s with something like an 8" separation for close micing some instruments, and up to about 2 feet apart for small ensembles.

since the dpa 4061 is an omni how far does it have to be away from another 4061 to avoid phase cancellation?

Actually the closer the less phase difference, as they would see the same wave front.  Some distance will help with "any" high end  brightness due to the replecation of the ear location. If you go too far you get a hole.
