Topic: How do you improve a recording?

I just recorded a Velvet Revolver show on my sony mz-r37 mindisc and it came out pretty rough. It was really loud, I probably should've stood further back even though I was at least 30 feet behind stage. Is there anyway to tone down the sound a bit and make it a clearer recording? You can hear all the intruments but the guitar really blasted my low cost core sound mics. Any help would be great, thanks

Did you plug into the line in or the mic in on your MD??   If you went mic in and it sounded bad (overloaded) try running line in instead.

there is really nothing you can do.

i used to come up with all sorts of wild ideas for fixing up shit recordings with my computer but after awhile i learnt the awful truth...

you need to start off with a good recording.

like BeckyT said (or suggested), forget about this recording and concentrate on getting the next one sounding better.
