The M-Audio MicroTrack Il often stops recording randomly due to issues with CF card compatibility, speed (write errors), or power instability, such as a weak battery. To fix this, use high-speed CF cards, format the card within the device, avoid overfilling the memory, and check that the battery is fully charged.Key Troubleshooting Steps:• CF Card Issues (Most Common): The MicroTrack Il is sensitive to memory cards.Use a high-quality, high-speed (fast write speed) CompactFlash (CF) card. Avoid using large capacity cards, as older devices may not handle them well. Always format the card within the MicroTrack Il itself rather than a computer.• Battery Power: If the battery is low or not supplying consistent power, the unit may stop recording abruptly. Ensure the battery is fully charged or use the AC adapter for long sessions.• File Size Limits: The device might stop recording if the file reaches the maximum size limit of the file system (usually FAT32).• Check for Overheating: While less common for audio recorders, if the unit is in a hot environment, it may cause issues.Potential Workarounds:• Format Regularly: Reformat the card in the MicroTrack Il before every new recording session.• Use Faster Card: Ensure the card is rated for fast write speeds to keep up with the audio data.• Monitor Levels: While some users reported it may stop even without warning, keeping an eye on the recording meters is recommended.
I think this is one of the few units which someone told me could accept 32k digital input from a DAT recorded in LP mode.I even remember it being said that it had always been a buggy device.Does anyone know if I'm remembering this correctly?

I don't think you've said what format you're recording. If you test with a lower quality, for lower writing demands, does it still crap out? If not, this would appear to indicate that it's having trouble keeping up with the writing demands.
