drum clamp for umbrella?
« on: August 26, 2004, 03:48:59 PM »
At Floydfest I saw a taper using a clamp for his umbrella.  It was a drummer's clamp for attaching a cymbal post to the drum kit.  I forgot what he called it and I can't find it online.

It was small and perfect.

Any ideas what this was?

10 sec Google search on 'drum clamp' yields this:

yeah, I was all over google like a horny teenager in his dad's buick as soon as I got home from the festival.  There are tons of different drummers clamps.  That one isn't the one I'm after.

The one I'm after is black and accomodates a 18-20mm pole on one side and a 6-9mm pole on the other.  If no one knows of it and I do eventually find it, I'll post it when I do.  It's the sweetest umbrella clamp ever.  I was really hoping that taper I met was on this board and could remind me of what it was.

EDIT: After posting, I remembered that he recommended drummersworld and I called them and they pointed me to latin percussion claw.  I found it here: http://www.latinpercussion.com/Product_Showcase/Claws_and_Brackets/lp_percussion_claw.html.

I use the standard clamp and remove the stud that the tbar attaches too, then I take off the plastic end of the umbrella and put it in place of the 5/8" stud, just screw it down into the aluminum post of the umbrella.

I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia

Just ordered one of those LP's to use for an umbrela clamp for my 13' stand.  It looks like it would hold up in a storm with a good umbrella.  Anyone have had any storm stories they want to share about this clamp and how good it is?  Shure I could have gone to toys r us but this was a good find tonight.  T+ for the post
