another thing mitch, i just tried doing a DAE in cdwave exactly like you did, mine was flawless did you use jitter correction if there were errors, your disc may be too scratched for the DAE in that to work, maybe try EAC, but give it another go w/ jitter correction

So - if I use EAC, does it just extract it to a directory but keep it in .wav? I am guessing I would extract the file from the CD, save it on my computer, then open it with CD Wave and track it?
