newbie needs help

Hello everybody,i'm looking to record my first show in a few weeks,i thought the best way to go was with minidisc recorder,can anyone offer any advice with perhaps a better option or with what equipment to buy

::) c'mon guys, no need to -T a n00b for asking the same question every other n00b does.  we just have to point them in the right direction and they'll be able to answer every question they have on their own.
