setting levels???
« on: November 24, 2004, 02:09:14 AM »
I set my levels at a 9 on the m1 and turn the mixpre way down, set at like at 2 or so.  I then turn my m1 way down to like a 6 and the mixpre up to a 5 1/2.  I do all this at my house.  The last time I made a recording at this scene, I had the levels on my m1 set at about 9 and the mixpre way down just like earlier.  The time before that, the same but the levels on my mixpre's gain came up higher.  I really think the levels on the mixpre should be hitting at about the 0 to +4 max out on the gain and having the levels on my m1 reaching -3 on the gain.  I seem to get a better recording when the levels on my m1 are set to a 8 1/2 to 9 and the mixpre's levels are reaching a 0 on the gain.  I can only get this level to hit this point at this one bar.  Any ideas from m1->mixpre users???  Thanks so much for your tips... Jesse

I've used mp2 > m1 and think that keeping the m1 set high and using the mixpre to adjust has been the best bet for me.
Out of the game … for now?
