JB3 and stealth

Lets hope more people share their recordings this tour.  The recent few tours have been disgusting taping wise. All the hoarding MOFOs out there...

But will most venues allow you in if they just think it's a regular CD walkman (i.e. not a recording device)?  Or will they not let it in?  Folks that in fact stealth with NJB3, how do they typically get it in?

The only way to get into Tool is to crotch it or have a your lady put it in a purse full of womens feminine products and shit like that.  Most other places, I agree that you can just put it in your pocket and claim it is a CD player. Headphones help too.

You team evil guys have a whole other world of problems! - moshers, etc...

Good point though - expect higher scrutiny at harder edged shows...

But, at least around my area, Team Evil has another benefit - the Evil shows are so evil that normal people are too scared of the ass kicking goodness that they are usually small shows, which translates into little or no security.

I just taped Suffocation, as well as High on Fire, at a venue that my crappy local band played at.  This is the situation that I tape in almost all the time.

Do you guys leave the leather pouch off when attempting this method?  I have leather pouches for mine and I think it makes them look not quite as CD-player-ish.

Yes, I keep mine in the pouch - clip it to my belt, wear a t-shirt long enough to cover it... and just stroll on in like you own the venue

With venues I'm familiar with, I often walk in fully wired-up, with the mics dangling against my chest under t-shirt... then all's I have to do is hit record and fly the mics. Easy!

The JB3 is no problem, it's the PS-2 & AD-20 that I get nervous about...I usually don't do super stealth, only low-profile stealth.  Meaning, I can stuff my gear at the bottom of my backpack, cover it with clothes from "work" and I'm good to go...
