Doubts about SP-SPSB-1 + SP-BMC-2
« on: April 19, 2005, 02:57:33 AM »
Hi!

This sunday I taped Judas Priest in Barcelona. I'm quite proud of the recording I did, (the place was full as hell, and I was about 40-50 mt from the scene, but the recording went good).

I have a little bit question. Since the recording level has to be adjusted by the Battery BoxSp-SPSB-1, and the sliders are pure analogue, I have realize that the left channel sounds a litle bit lower than the right one, is there any chance of setting up the volume of the left channel by software? (i'm using adobe audition 1.5)

Another question, I have recently adquired a NJB3 in ebay. it allows me to adjust the recording levels "on the fly" without having to pause the recording, doesn't it?

Yes there is, although I've not used your editing program since it was Cooledit, you can do this, and its perfectly acceptable. My recordings often have a 1dB difference between left and right mics, and I correct this if its audible.

It does, but its best to try and get this sorted early on so there aren't too many volume changes on the recording. Often I just leave the Nomad at 0dB (for loud rock bands in clubs anyway), and normalise a little later.

Please, can you tell me how do you set this 1db boost to the selected channel?

Thanks for your support!

Sorry, haven't used your program..have a play around with it, or maybe someone here will chime in.

In Audacity you split stereo track, highlight left or right channel, amplify.

Hi

Thanks, i'll try ti amplify the channel using audacity, and later I'll will improve some filters (hiss removal, normalize) with adobe audition 1.5.

I'll let you know of any progresses.

Thanks a lot!

I think you have to update the firmware to do this, but once you are updated, its all good.
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

I would not mess around with hiss removal.
