I'm new to open taping really, so can someone point me to some specifically reliable and adaptable stand and clamp combos to be used with j-discs?  I'd like something that will elevate to around 15 feet if wanted yet remain sturdy and not shake.  A site that sells this stuff would be good also.  Thanks.

Bogen / Manfrotto 3352QL - Air Cushioned Quick Lock Light Stand - 11'
$94.95 @ bhphotovideo.com

What else should I get?  Is there some sort of clamp that could attach to the stand on one end and clamp to a j-disc on the other end?  I couldn't find anything that looked like that specificially but that's what I had in mind.

try bogen super clamp.  Somehow I can always make it do the things I want it to do.  Let me add that it has a place to put in a stud, and then if memory serves me your jaws would be horizontal.  Which would seem perfect for a j-disc.

Made a purchase from bhphotovideo.com

I ordered this:

Bogen / Manfrotto  BO2900
2900 Super Clamp with Standard Stud  X 2

Avenger  AVE600C
E600C - Snap-In Pin for Super Clamp - Steel, 5/8"

Bogen / Manfrotto  BO2917
2917 Joining Arm - for Super Clamp

Bogen / Manfrotto  BO3352QL
3352QL - Air Cushioned Quick Lock Light Stand - 11'

What I'm envisiong is one super clump on the stand and the second connected with the joining arm at the same angle to the disc can be mounted at 90 degrees without obstruction from the stand.  We'll see if this will work the way I think it will. :P

yessir.  I wanted to do something different though.  I didn't really understand your mounting system and I think this one will be fast and easy.
