new sound blaster pcmci 24bit card.
« on: January 07, 2005, 09:49:53 PM »
i found it in some maximunpc magazine i get.  it looks cool, makes me want to get a lappy to record with and not have to worry about using a pre with a usb out.  it looks pretty tight and for $130 it seems pretty reasonable.  Both coax, and optical ins/outs.  give it a look.

I have one.  Paid $110 from mwave.  Haven't used it for recording, only playback so far (works great so far).  Waiting for my V3 to come back with the optical mod (the only digital i/o is mini-toslink optical).  Should be testing it by the end of the week.  Jon Marin is also trying V3>Audigy 2Zs, maybe he'll chime in here...

I saw this card for $99 at my local staples today.
whats the deal?  it resamples, i'm guessing.  but does it sound good?
hundred dollar non bit perfect 24/96 laptop I/O is not a bad deal.

couldn't get a clean recording with it, but worked nicely for playback.  evenually destroyed it when my headphone cord caught on something when I stood up and the mini-jack ripped out splitting it into pieces.   ::)
