best budget low-pro hypers
« on: November 20, 2005, 07:10:35 PM »
What I'm looking for is a simple and low-pro solution for crappy bars and clubs that I can just grab and go. I can't afford shoepes or akg actives yet. I would LOVE to run one of the new all-in-one boxes (MT2496 / R1 / acm671 / acm660). I currently have tmod+ ua-5. this is what I've been looking at:

Audix 1290 series
at853x
at943x
peluso actives? (probably too far off)
mbho actives (maybe too expensive and don't want to carry bodies in the bag)

Can anyone recommend anything for my situation? I tape everything (jazz, bluegrass, and classical) but primarily rock. On the top of my list I'm thinking Audix 1290 hyper > ACM 660.  It would be so small and simple!  Maybe Audix 1290 hyper > mp-2 > oade R1

ps I'm downloading samples as I type this, I have to take them home and listen on my playback, I will report my findings.
Line Audio CM4 / AT853Rx (c,h,o) / Studio Projects C4 MKII (c,h,o)
Sound Devices MP-2 / bm2p+ Edirol UA-5
Zoom F3 / F6 / Marantz Oade Warm Mod PMD661 / Tascam DR-70D

i bet the audix mics with an oade mod 660 would sound badass.  and your rig would be very small.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.
