Marantz 671 Help (I somehow deleted a whole show?)
« on: January 22, 2006, 03:21:01 PM »
So I go to transfer my ARU from last night from my 671 to my Powerbook. I copy the file over and it starts to copy but then goes into spinning beach ball mode while trying to calulate transfer time. It stays that way for 20 minutes or so and the computer would respond to nothing, so I restarted. After the restart the 671 says Blank Card and the file seems to be gone, but I don't know how that could be. Any way to recover the file, any ideas at all?

Wow, that sucks. Were you running in the corner last night? I saw a 671 on the floor in the TS.
I've got one too and am worried about this same type of thing happening.

Yes, I was running with Harrison. I'm trying a file recovery program for osX taht *seems* to be finding some recoverable wave files, but we'll see. I'm hoping that there is no way 3 gigs of data can just vanish. I'll update when this program is done scanning the disc. I'll have a card reader next week, that may help with this sort of error. The 671 always fails to recognize it has data after it is transferred, sketchy!

Oh, OK.
I have read that there is a file on there that the 671 has to have in order to see the data. I use a card reader for transfers.
I bet your data is still there, the 671 probably just can't see it. Good luck.

Try it in a card reader.

Yeah, the whole damn card became corrupted, most likely due to the 671 and whatever happend when my computer crashed. If I had been using a card reader I doubt this would have happend. Live and learn, at least Harrison was running my LSD2.

not sure if this helps, but the one time i lost a file w/ the 671 (on a pc, not mac) i changed the name of the folder "MPGLANG1" to something else while they (the pc & 671 via usb) were still connected. so, needless to say, i havent done that again. i have not run in to the problem you described. try a card reader or a pc.

I've actually got a new pc on the way that will be optimized as a DAW and used for an audio playback device. It has a card reader permanantly installed so hopefully this won't be an issue in the future.

I got my card reader for free (after rebate) from Office Depot. It's a USB device that shows up on my comoputer as a drive. It has a slot for the Compact Flash cards.

What about disc recovery software?

What about disc recovery software?

Tried it, not a trace of the file I lost. Oh well, I've already written this one off. The 671 is flawless in it's performance but I am not impressed with it's behavior when connected to a pc, even if the file does transfer successfully, the 671 is not able to read or play the file, which is complete bullshit.
