Looking to tape a gig for the first time
« on: March 18, 2006, 09:03:56 AM »
Hi guys,

Been lurking on the site for a few months now in preparation for my first stealth outing

I'm going to be taping a rock concert in the next couple of months in a stadium (indoor basketball affair), i have the following at my disposal:

Edirol R-1
JB3

Binaurals (Church Audio) > Church Preamp>?

Just wondering which you guys would pick for the outing, i'm leaning towards the edirol, but then again i may take both and use one as a backup.

I've been reading up on various things and have learnt quite a bit, just really wanted some of the more experienced guys to give an opinion, i.e am i missing anything obvious regarding my setup.

Thanks for reading

You should be ok with just the R-1, unless there's some reason you haven't told us that a back-up might be useful.

my r-1 is extremely dependable.  Just make sure you don't mistake the hold switch for the power switch and accidently turn it off before it saves the file.....  :-[
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

What config do you plan on using with those omnis?

I don't mean to speak for him, but look at the Jecklin disc thread(s) in the mic section....

There aren't a lot of good configs for omnis that give good stereo seperation....

if you are going to stealth and are a complete newbie, better practise first in home and bring only one deck to the show
