Studio Projects C4's with Denecke PS-2???
« on: May 15, 2006, 12:09:55 AM »
Hey everyone...is the PS-2 enough of a power supply to power these mics effectively.  I am trying to keep a minimal rig setup still and relatively affordable.  I plan on running:

C4's > PS-2 > Sony PCM-M1 (Line In).

Would this sound decent?  Would there be enough gain with the PS-2 alone?
Would I need transformer like the Hosa MIT-176 to get line level???

I really do not want to have to buy a A/D.

If anyone can answer these questions...PLEASE email me or reply here.

Thanks!

Hey Ryan,

The PS2 power will be sufficient for the mics, but you might need some transfomers to get ideal levels.

Have you considered an AD20 to pair with the PS2? I think there is few going in the yard sale for good prices

That's what I was ruuning for the November 2004 Hips run: AT853>PS2>AD20>MD-DR7

what he said.....i run SPc4's>ps-2>ad-20>jb3.....the ps-2 is perfect for powering the mics, but you may need something to tweak the levels such as the above mentioned ad-20....does your PCM-M1 have decent gain controls?

If he ran digital in the M1 would be dependent on the AD20 for levels, he could run mic-in on the M1 while just using the PS2 but I'm not sure how great it would sound.
