Listen carefully to your mics.

There was a run of these wth a faulty preamp that would make a flutter noise.  Basically it was a weak llink in material manufacturing that is causing this and they will replace the preamp for you.

Can you post serial # ranges? I'll assume Moke's are the highest numbers. What are the lowest that would be affected?

Edit: Sorry about the name thing. I know your name isn't Brian. I was talking to Skalinder before, but we all know he prefers *ahem* other mics.

I was going through pairs of mics like candy for a while ::)
I've thoroughly tested the waters of DPA customer service over the last year.  they've come away with shining colors and glowing reviews.

It was an elctro-static discharge issue.

what a "flutter" looks like..... (below)

wow, Mike, looks like things took a turn for the positive for you, very glad and surprised to hear that

Indeed, there were some dark days.
When they finally realized it wasn't operator error, and was a manufacturing issue, the entire circumstance evolved into almost a professional relationship in determining what might be at issue. I've just reminded quiet about this up until now, while they figured out what they needed to do, as it was a larger issue at hand.

I think that due to my recording alot of quieter music, in very serene and contolled conditions, it was more apparent that something was amiss.  Alot of what i was experiencing could so easily been written off to anomalies presented in louder, more rowdy, rock-n-roll music, like pa glitches, stand bumping, whatever.... With acoustic recording, you don't have any pa electronics, stand banging, etc. to hide behind. So, any issues stood out glaringly, where they might be more easily disguised in louder circumstances.
:shrugs:
Glad that my episode in this has apparently come to an end (keeps fingers crossed).

Moke the product "tester"  ;D

That's exactly what baffled me about this pair.

We did a Duwayne Burnside shoot in Atlanta.  But this time around the shot was tipped, meaning the show came before the interview.  Obviously through the show the anomolie was undetectable (thanks in many parts to Burnside's stellar playing, and LOUD!), but once we got into the interview you could hear it clear as day, every two seconds or so, and randomly throughout.  I was baffled, but had to switch mics stat, and isolated later that night at home.

When did you get your pair of mics, the good batch?

(Delivered to so. Cali., around the 7th of June? (the files/receipts are already stored)).

Hmmm...

Must've gotten the ones right before yours.  That's exactly about the time I got mine.  There out on another project, but I'll have to check thge S/N when they return.
