Modded 671s compared to outboard pres
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:35:00 PM »
Thinking of upgrading my rig and wondering whether the modded 671s are good enough to eliminate the need for a V3 or other outboard pre.

I tape mostly acoustic stuff - classical, bluegrass, folk acts.  Probably will spend the money for a Schoeps M/S mic lashup as part of the upgrade unless I can think of a reason not to.

I ran a comp for a friend tuesday

ccm4l > V3 >ACM-671 (digi-in)
ccm4l > ACM-671

listened to it some last night in the car.....couldn't tell a difference.  Now like I said that was the CAR....on a home stereo..I can't answer yet.
