Gear backpack for field recording in 3rd world countries?
« on: December 02, 2006, 03:23:15 PM »
I'm having a hard time finding the 'perfect' bag for my needs.
I am looking for a durable and low-profile bag for recording in 3rd world countries.
I would like it to look like a regular jansport style bookbag, not like a gearbag.
It should be comfortable as I will carry it for a month or more continuously (would you leave your gear in a $6 hotel room?).
I will be carrying a 722, with mics, batteries, cables, bogen 3373 (19 inches) and other small items.
I would prefer it to have a leather bottom for durability as I will put it down on the street/ground often on the fly.
I'm pretty sure that I will use a portabrace for the 722 and keep everything assembled in the backpack, all I have to do is open the bag, pull the gear out, strap it on and I'm recording.
But, wouldn't it be great if someone made a bag like this that converted into a recording bag.
Perhaps, you just take it off your back, strap it on your side (or front), unzipped a compartment, and your recorder is right there!
No need for a portabrace or anything else....that would be sweet.
Anyhow, I would appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks in advance!
