Has anyone ever attached their gear bag in some fashion to a free-standing pole/column in a pub because there was no table or chair nearby to place your gear bag on?  I'll be at a place like this tonight, and it would be too risky to place the bag on the floor as it might get trampled on or tripped over by unsuspecting music fans/dancers, and I've always wondered what a good approach might be (I'll be running mics out & over the stage, clamped onto a light pole).  Maybe wrap a heavy-duty rubber bungee cord around the pole and weave it around the bag in some fashion, and set it slightly below eye level on the column?  I think I'd rather it be up high and visible so nobody steps on it.  I have a Lowepro Nova 5 which shouldn't be too heavy, and can close the flap to prevent possible liquid spills.

Anyhoo, if anyone's ever tried something like this please speak up.  Thanks!

Keith

2 bungee cords live in my gear bag... useful for this type of application or for attaching a mic stand to a chair, column, etc.

Awesome Moke, thanks a bunch for the quick response and the ideas.  Think I'll stop by Home Depot or Lowes on my way in to work.  Just saw this on Lowes' site...might be a bit long but I can cut it if necessary

Thanks Rustoleum, I will also pack some bungees as well.

+t y'all!

In situations like this I put the gear bag right next to the stand, and then I stand right behind it...making it impossible for anyone to step on without literally moving me out of the way.
