Help with distortion
« on: December 10, 2006, 03:59:42 AM »
Im pretty new to taping and just recently ordered and received a pair of microphonemadness HLSC-3 (HLSC-1 mics with croakie option) mics. Since they arrived the day of the show I was going to tape I tried them out without having a battery module or preamp (the amp is still on its way here). My problem with my recording is that yo ucan hear a very noticeable distortion throughout the recording.

My question is if my preamp (chruch audio 9100 with the 3.5mm inputs not the 3 wire mini-XLR connectors) will help with those problems or if I need an extra bb.

here are two links with samples, thanks in advance for the help.

If your going into your recorder's mic input then thats where your distortion is coming from even if the levels on the said recorder look fine the first stage of the built in mic preamp is getting slammed. This happens even with recorders with level controls if they are digital (almost 90% ) of them are. So my preamp will help I know a lot of people that are Using the Sennheiser capsules and they work just fine.
