Hey there...does anyone know how to adjust the volume via a fade to fix a gradual level adjustment over about 10 sec. time?  I use cool Edit Pro v1.2a...and I taped a show the other day that I had the levels too low to start at the beginning of the first track and gradually adjusted it over the course of 10 secs. to proper volume.

What I want to do is boostthe portion before (including compensating for the gradual increase) to the some volume as the rest of the show.

Any know how?

Bri, I've used the envelope tools but only seem to be able to get them to attenuate, not amplify.  Have I missed something?

The envelope default vertical axis is 100% providing only attenuation, i.e. 100% = same as level as current, with all lower values providing attenuation.  There's an Amplification % field that one may change to enable amplification, also.  For example, change the Amplification % from 100% to 120%, and one may now apply an envelope that attenuates (values below 100%) or amplifies (values above 100%).

Now if there was only a way to apply the envelope more on one track than the other, at the same time, it would be really handy.  +T

Not sure if this would accomplish what you're wanting, but you could always:

• highlight channel₁
  
• apply the envelope
• save the envelope as a pre-set channel₁
  
• highlight channel₂
  
• open the saved pre-set channel₁ envelope
  
• tweak the pre-set channel₁ envelope for channel₂
  
• save the envelope as pre-set channel₂
  
  

This would allow you to apply a similar to envelope channel 2 as channel 1, but tweak the channel 2 envelope accordingly so it's specific to channel 2.

Keeping this thread alive, Bri, have you ever done any clip repair?  (I know, you're so good that you never go over!)  I've noticed that when I apply the tool to a selection, more often than not the bottom sweep of the wave seems to be flattened off while the top sweep will get a noticeable "repair" for the same clipped area.  Is that an Audition/CEP bug?  Should I dump it in favor of something that works?  (I know, just avoid overs like the plague.

Never go over?  Hah!  Oh, I've done plenty of clip repairing in Audition/CEP.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  But I've not experienced the results you mention.

I've found to achieve good results I must start and stop the highlighted selection I'm repairing on zero-crossings, a single channel at a time.  For light clipping, I've had good results repairing a sizeable chunk at a time.  For heavier clipping, I've needed to zoom into each individual peak and repair each individually.  Even that hasn't always worked, and I've sometimes had to re-draw the waveform, with mixed results.
