Hi,
I've been told that Microphone Madness's HLSC-1 mic (Sennheiser capsules) is a great mic but lacks bass, so there's no need to use bass roll-off. Even MM's owner told me so.
Well, not with me. I've only taped once with the HLSC-1. Thunderous bass all over the place in recording.
My rig : HLSC-1 > SP-SPSB-6 > R-09 (line in). I don't know if any piece of my equipment has some malfunction or mismatch. The fact is: loads of bass. In one my recent recordings, bass is so overwhelming that even after a 185 hz HiPass Filter, lots of bass still. Lots of it.
It's very, very, very frustrating.
