HRTF mic positioning Live Concerts

When using the HRTF mic setup would you get the best stereo results
both with a cardioid and an omni by the mics facing forward?

If the info file says the taper uses HRTF and an omni such as a
DPA4061, do you assume forward aiming or the binaural configuration?
Does HRTF imply forward facing?
