ISO: Bag for 722, Portico etc?
« on: May 01, 2007, 11:21:44 PM »
Having recently added a Portico to my rig I'm looking for a bag to accommodate it, a 722, mic bodies, batteries etc. as my beloved Nova 4 just isn't big enough. I like the look of a PortaBrace but am unsure of what line (AR7 etc.) will suit me. If anyone has any thoughts as to a suitable bag/solution, PortaBrace or otherwise, they'd certainly be of great help.

dunno if i'm totally off base but you may want to look into the AR-7 w/ a 442 bag in the middle of the 722 and RM-Multi

I've been using a wire rack holding the 722 and portico in an eastpack book bag.

Which mountainsmith lumbar bag is deeper than the cairne?  Is there one with another 3-4" depth - that would fit the portico with RA connectors.

Not sure about 3-4" but the Mountainsmaith day pack is taller.  Did we try to fit your portico in my pack?  I can't remember.

thanks for the tips guys!

something like this? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&Q=&is=REG&O=productlist&sku=262233

looks good, but am having a bit of a hard time finding the dimensions online. the portico is 9-inches deep, so it'll need to be this deep plus a little more for the ra xlrs etc.

what about the nova 5?

that too was my first thought, though i found it's only 6-inches deep.

may need to bite the bullet as per lil' kim and build a target-style rack for placement in a backpack.

while I am not sure the size of the Portico, I dont see how the Nova5 wouldnt work for you...
I have previously stuffed in my Nova5 (for festival purposes):
DA-P1
V3
SD MP-2
Sony M1 and SBM1
2x 6V12AH SLA
2 sets of mics (1 full bodied AKG 391 and 1 active set of Geffells)
2 sets of XLR
shocks, clamps, tbars, misc cables, adaptors, etc

granted it was a tight fit with all of that in it at one time, but I cant see a 722 and Portico plus a set of mics and battery taking up more room than what I above squeezed in...
