Topic: Problem with either R-09 or Mics?

So I was taping a show last night and as I was watching the levels on my R-09, I noticed that sometimes the left channel would drop out very briefly, but the right would stay going. After this happened a few times, I lightly tapped the back of the R-09 and that seemed to fix the problem right away, though it may have just been a coincidence. The rig is as follows:
SP-BMC-12 > SP-SPSB-1 > Edirol R-09 > SanDisk 2 GB SD Memory Card @ 16 bit/44.1 kHz
As far as I know, the mics are in good shape, though I don't know that for sure. I don't have an extra set to play around with and do tests either. So does anybody have a clue if it is the R-09 or the mics? I'm not positive if this matters, but the batter box > mics were connected through the mic in jack.

Check the jack on the R-09, they are a common problem.  Try it at home and see if it can be reproduced.
Also if it can be reproduced on the mic in, try using the line in to see if it's good.  That will help narrow it down.  Good luck.

That is exactly what I was afraid of. I had hoped that I bought my R-09 late enough that they had fixed that problem. I ordered it online in November. Since the channel is already dropping out, does that mean the damage has been done and the recorder needs to be repaired at this point?

I think if you help first sell second you will find your sales are doing very well.. people here dont like this kind of shit.. I have remained quiet for some time but I have had enough of your back handed sales tactics. We as vendors on this site all have to play by the same rules. This is so true and it's such a subtle change that I'm gob smacked that you don't see it. And that web site of yours, F***ing hell. I was thinking about some of your mics a few years back and your site was so very very poor that it put me off. Shockingly the site is still just as bad. So, assuming the input jacks need to be fixed on your R-09, you have a couple of options.  First and best option that people seem to consider is to send a PM to schoepsnbox and ask him is he can perform his fix on the board to so that the jacks can take a bit more stress.  He's done this for many members that are happy with the work.  He claims it to be a better fix than option number 2, which is to send it back to Edirol where they basically do the same thing, but like I said he says that his fix is beefier than Edirols.  Once you have this done though, the common logic afterwards is not to plug and unplug much directly from the jacks to extend the life of the jacks.  To keep from doing that, buy a short cable with a right angle male 1/8 inch on one end and a female 1/8 on the other and leave it plugged in all the time.  That way you plug in and out of the cable and not the deck.
