laptop > my home stereo
« on: July 11, 2007, 12:24:19 PM »
I know I can use the mini rca > rca but would like to do it digitally (optical to be exact, my receiver only has one coax and it's taken).  I keep all my masters on a harddrive (backed up to dvd as well) and would like to set it up to play through my home stereo using the laptop and harddrive..  I have it set up on my PC in the office (audiophile 24/96 > coax > old shitty receiver).  I  don't really need it for dat transfers etc so I assume a simple interface (usb or firewire) would work.  any suggestions??

how about the Squeezebox 3?

you can hook that up to your stereo via an optical cable, and it can find the music on your laptop, which will need to be running slimserver.  you have the option of wired or wireless between the laptop and the SB3.
