Question about battery box

Hi! I'm a newbie...I got a homemade battery box, is there something wrong if I connect out to Mic-In instead Line-in?
I've got a Sony MD MZR-70

I'll go to tape Robert Plant and Strange Sensation, can I tape without battery box?
