If you haven't yet updated the firmware, I wold recommend NOT using that card where you are getting the media full message the first time to try to record to it to perform  the update. That symptom appears related to a failure when flashing the firmware (rendering the unit dead and requiring it be sent back to M-Audio for repair). Use any other card where you do not see that problem to do the update (providing you still can't find the original 64MB card which for sure does not have that issue).

Good luck,

J.T.

Thanks JT.  I have updated the firmware in the past (but it has probably been a year or so since the last time I did it).  I definitely did not use the 64 mb card the last time (I either used a 1 or 2 gb card).  I'll try to update the firmware this weekend and will post the results.  Thanks!

Is the original poster commenting on his battery box run times vs. internal battery? The last sentence seems to indicate that...

not sure you are comparing the same thing...

No, that is with the internal battery only....no external sources.  I use a battery box on my mics (thus no phantom power).  I haven't had the chance to test the MT using an external battery yet.

Howcome you have different recording-times then??  ???
I'm confused here..

Got me.  Maybe I have a "special" MT. ;D  The times I listed were combined file time.  For instance, each time was a combination of 2 times (the first file in the 24/48 test was somewhere around 1:55, with a second file at about 47-50 mins- the 16/44 was about 3 hours 7 mins for the first file, then 17 mins for the second).

I have recorded 15 bands using the MT, ranging from a quick 30-40 minutes (festival sets) to 3.5 hours (using a backup USB battery box for the last hour or so, just in case).  Maybe that isn't enough use to have the battery life degrade?

ok there we go :)
1:55 for the 1st 2gb and the rest was whatever time remains

however this might be part of whats causing your problem because - if you are being told 1:55 and then another 50 or so mins - thats less then 3gbs
you shouldn't be losing a full gb on the card (i know all cards/hd are not exactly what they say)
but i don't think a 4gb card should or would use over 1gb in "formating"

i would def try formating the card on a comp as well as upgrading the firmware

UPDATE:

I upgraded the firmware, re-formatted the 4 gb card and tried to record....worked like a charm.  Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions!
