sennheiser mke2... What model to buy?
« on: January 01, 2008, 09:40:26 AM »
I'm looking into upgrading to a brand new & closer matched pair and there are so many different sub-models I could use a little help choosing what would be best.

I will be using them with a ca9100(3wire) for amplified concert recording to be clear.

Thanks

Michael

I know the MKE-2-5 has 3 wires available (ie not shorted to 2 wire at the capsule).  Whether it's the best choice,  ???

If you are sure the mke2 is 3-wire (i.e. no short at the capsule either) just get the pigtails and add the mini-jack yourself?

There is also an MKE 2-5 available in black and beige which does *not* have the reduced sensitivity like the "Gold" versions (though they also do not have the "umbrella" diaphragm to protect from sweat).

I was thinking that there was a good chance that I would be using mine in the rain.  Figured the gold version was playing it safe.
