just to reiterate what everyone said, XY for cards, if you have hypers use them DIN or XY, but DIN would eliminate the boom while still giving you decent bass

you find XY takes away from the bass?
I find just the opposite.  I find that XY gives kick drum IMPACT

Agreed.  My NT4 has no other option but XY, and the kickdrum is always thick!
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

of course it sounds more punchy or has impact because the super lows of the kick have been eliminated :)

as for the Rode mic, i dunno this for sure, but my guess would be that they made it a warm boomy mic because of it's permanent XY config.

Brian said it...

the low end boom is eliminated with x/y but the bass is more focused.

You know, I always wondered why people talk about needing bass roll-offs and what not... I never hear it with my NT4.. this explains it!

Thanks-
