Getting an Iriver H140 repaired
« on: January 16, 2008, 04:17:24 PM »
My Rockboxed H140 died several months ago--won't do anything. I'm almost certain that I didn't fry it with the wrong power supply. I've been talking periodically with Iriver about repairing it out-of-warranty. They keep saying that they'll start doing such repairs soon, just check back next month. Now they're saying "next quarter." It's starting to feel like this will going on indefinately. The only mod was that I put in a higher capacity Ipod battery about 6 months before it died.

Does anyone know of someone who repairs these? Anyone want to take a crack at it (for an appropriate fee, of course)? Thanks.

Are you saying that it doesn't light up at all, even connected to AC? I guess it's fried then...
If you don't get any takers for the repair, you might even be better off selling it for parts.
+T for being persistent though.

The green charging light comes on when connected to AC, but it won't turn on or do anything else. You're probably right about just selling it for parts.

maybe the battery is dead. IIRC, it will not turn on with a flat battery.

If you bought one of those cheap ipod 1/2 gen batteries that need the wires swapped, it may be the battery is broken. I've had it with my h340... Those ipod replacement batteries are crap.

Open it up and check if the battery is inflated or leaking. If you still have the old battery, try that one again
