Corrupt Flac Files While Playing Back in Foobar
« on: January 27, 2008, 12:22:04 PM »
Been having some issues with flac files being corrupt for playback in Foobar as of late. Only seems to be happening with 24 bit files...and just ones I've encoded recently. Older 24 bit files play fine.  I haven't upgraded my version of FLAC, running 1.7.1  Anyone come across similar issues?  16 Bit version of the same shows play fine as well.  Odd...

To explain a bit further, the author of FLAC recently (v 1.2.x ? I don't remember) upgraded the 24-bit encoding algorithm to increase compression ratio.  Older playback software would require an update to play back the new files.

If this happens to you, don't panic--the files can still be un-FLAC'd and are exactly what was encoded.
