Topic: Pelican cases for DPA 4022 mic storage Pick "n" pluck yes or no

Is there anyone who has used or recommend Pelican cases with the pick n pluck foam ( closed cell polyethylene foam).

I want to store DPA 4022 and various other microphones and cables and if Pelican is what others use?

Does the polyethylene foam have any degenerate features with mic cables and mic bodies?

I know polyethylene foam can be destructive over time with certain finishes and woods on guitars so that is why you should not store guitars with guitar straps or always have a guitar on a stand due to the contact with the foam.

Yep, 1060 microcase.  Leave room for a silica packet.  Also, taking a look, the top foam on the pelican is kinda thin given how thick the whole box is. Ideally it seems like it could and should be thicker.  I don't plan on dropping mine but if it was dropped on the top, it seems like it wouldn't provide as much padding. So try and go deep enough that the mics are well centered in the case and maybe consider more foam on the lid (since a gap might be even worse). Since the case is enclosed and air tight, I'd be careful about introducing anything that could de-gas fumes into the case. My main worry there is that something could react with the mylar in the caps over time but I'm not sure how much of a concern that really is.

I don't know how long this foam will last. I hope it is higher quality than the stuff found in really cheap gun cases, etc.

I economize every way I can.  My DPA's came with a case, so that is taken care of.  My Schoeps came in a wooden case, which is not suitable for shlepping around.  So I keep the CMC64's in their plastic tubes, roll the tubes up in a small towel and stow the towel in an airtight plastic container.  When I use the Schoeps I just grab the container and put it in the tool bag I carry my gear in.  The tool bag is large, rugged, has zipped compartments and a shoulder strap and cost $20.  The money I saved I put towards gear that cannot be substituted the way I did with my mic storage and gear bag.  As usual, YMMv

I use teh 1060 and 1040's all the time for my mics and I like them a lot. I had to fit a pc of foam in the top. I have nto notices any issues with the foam interacting with the mics at all... I buy them on ebay from :
