Is there anyone who can tell me how to create HDCDs from existing 24/48 material?

I don't think you can. HDCD was from Pacific MicroSonics if I remember the name of the company correctly. Microsoft bought Pacific MicroSonics (thus getting the patent for HDCD) and effectively killed HDCD as it was competition for a MS product. As with so many things MS, their competing product was actually inferior and MS has done nothing with HDCD or their own product; killed a good thing. You might contact MS about licensing HDCD but if they will license it, be prepared to pay$$$.

It is still possible to encode , but the process requires a rather complex proprietary hardware system(requiring a license)



the model 1 pacific microsonics converters show up on ebay from time to time, but I do not know where they fit in that chain..and they are very expensive.

yeah, unless you have a lot of capital on hand, you can forget hdcd or sacd. you can burn dvd-a (all sample rates) for free though....
