DIY Heavy Duty Flex Arm Conversion
« on: February 19, 2008, 06:13:25 PM »
I just bought a heavy duty flex arm and was wondering if there is a threading adapter to change its existing tiny male camera threading to 1/4 20 or 3/8 16. Or buy a rapid adapter.

o.k., so I solved my problem. Went to Lowes and found the parts that I needed to be able to run mics on the Heavy Duty Flex Arm.

1) 3 inch 3/8-16 threaded rod (couldn't find any smaller)
2) 3/8-16 x 7/16 T-nut (makes a great platform for stereo bar)
3) 3/8-16 Locking nut (for stability at the base)

it is even smaller than the 1/4 inch. Don't even know what it is for.

I slot what I call the "bottom" end - to which you've attached your T-bar - into my Superclamp.  On the other end, I use one of the Bogen Rapidapters, since that's also what I use to attach my mics to my stand and Windtech "C"-type clamp.  The only time I don't use the Rapidapter is with my extension pole, as I feel the threads are more secure.
