Hi!
I plan to get a dat recorder portable to tape shows.I would like to know ; please ; what gear do i have to buy to make dat clones for trading?

I have alreday done some research but as english isnt my mothers language and its technical and i am still a semi newbie ; its a little bit difficult to understand

I have a soundcard with digital input/output (dont know the name ; have to search in my computer).Is it simply possible to play your dat with your portable deck ; transfer digitally to your computer ; then record on a blank dat tape by your dat portable?
or do i need a Big non portable Dat deck?

In fact i would like to trade some of my fav band (ratm/ early rhcp/nirvana ; you see 80/mid90 generally altough i love also others band of course).The JB3 wasnt out in tis era (80/90) so tapers were running casette or Dat deck.In fact i dont care about having a dat portable deck but i would like to to make dat clone to trade with"old" trader
Its possible to record with a JB3 a wav file at 48khz than transfer to a dat deck to trade to some Dat trader ; right?And i can of course transfer it (after downsampling ) on cd for my private use/"classic" trade use?
Good idea?

It's not silly, people may not have personal experience transferring NJB3 to DAT (I know I don't).  Theoretically, to transfer NJB3 to DAT you'd have to:

[1] copy the NJB3 files to your PC via Firewire or USB
[2] play the files back through your soundcard digital-out
[3] record onto your DAT machine

Once you complete [1], yes - you can transfer to CD for your own private use.

Good idea?  Depends on whether you feel it's worth the effort.  I've not come across many people who only trade DAT.  I've found most DAT traders have made the transition to SHN/FLAC trading.

Is it a good deal to get a full sized dat deck to make clone of my recording and archiving mine on dat?
He is the  2nd owner ; he hasnt use so much (and also the first) ; no repair to do ; all is fine as he says  ; excellent condition
The seller sell it because he gets off this Home studio (he used to archivinf info from his Fostex DMT 8  8-track.)

It seems very correct (few hours ; near mint conditions) ; the seller too
As i have written its for nealy archive use only (on 48khz)
Taping on jb3 is by far better as ive read but there is no media just a file ; you have to down sample it and burn onto cd or archive it on Dat .
Is it dead as archival medium?
cd have more chances to get scratch ; and keeping an Hd unplugged is by what ive read getting bad files which have been fucked up
I will not tape live shows on Dat portable recorder .I understand the point
I can get masterclone at 48khz via online trading and maybe do a few clones to trade with " hardcore old school DAT traders"
