Is there a problem with cleaning for longer than 10 secs or is it just overkill?

The dry cleaning tapes are a bit abrasive and will wear your heads unnecessarily if run too long.

really? you can't reuse them?  I knew you couldn't rewind them but i thought you could use them again.

Using them multiple times - but with a fresh strip of cleaning tape every run - probably isn't technically re-use.  Just ongoing use.  You're correct - it's rewinding and reusing that's the issue.
