This is the issue: my mics are standard sp cmc4U (AT853) terminated in a 1/8" minijack and I need to connect them to a SD MixPre with XLR inputs and phantom.
I already read all the threads regarding phantom power and 853 but did not find the answer, I'm sorry.
You would say: buy SP's cable that also provides phantom. I like very much Chris Carfagno's products but $ 100 (including shipping to europe) for a cable seem to me too expensive. That's why I prefer the DIY way.
Looking on the web I found followings schematics (
http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/microphone_powering.html).
The XLR side is described as follows:
This circuit is a very simple method of connecting an electret microphone capsule to the a balanced phantom powered (48V) mixer XLR input.
_____
HOT (2) ---------|_____|------+
47 kohm |+
MIC
COLD (3) ----+ CAPSULE
| |-
GROUND (1) ----+-----------------+
Now, how to arrange the other side of the cable (i.e. stereo minijack)?
My guess is:
T = Hot Right channel
R = Hot Left channel
S = Ground Right+Left
Is that ok? Am I completely wrong? Would this provide juice to the mic?
In other words: what have I to solder?
TIA for your help and sorry for my english.
