kind of untreated but you should know that most sata and esata and not be safely hot swapped.   ie you can't do the safely remove hardware and turn it off.  you have to shut down the computer to safely disconnect the external (when using esata).  I found a cure for this.

makes sata and esata hot swappable.  if you turn the drive on while booted you will have to scan for new hardware (you can do it the regular way or use the app I posted).
so basically every time you start your computer you have to use the hotswap program to search for the drive to use it?  its not automatically found on startup?  thanks for the app BTW, it seems very easy to use.

no.  if the drive is ON when you boot up it will see it.  if your computer is on and then you turn the esata on you have to search for new hardware.  to safley disconnect (turn OFF) the esata while keeping the pc ON you have to use the hotswap icon.

i see thanks. 

well im getting no where.  i just tried to restart with the drive plugged into the slave port and it wouldnt boot up.  if i unplug it windows boots up, but now it wont find the drive again.  what a love hate relationship this is...
