Nice thing about the m10 is that it has 4 gigs built in and you can do this thing called cross recording...once all 4 gigs of internal memory, it switches to the external/removable media. I don't know if you have start on the external and then go to internal automatically.

It can go the other direction too (external to internal).  Just select the memory card and enable cross-memory...

And it is seamless, as far as I can tell.  I pasted the two wavs together and it looked fine.  Couldn't hear anything either...
thanks

Is there any advantage to using the memory sticks in the m-10 or are most of you guys just getting away with the lower cost micro SD cards. Thanks

I doubt there is any advantage to the sony memory. The D50 takes the memory stick so its nice to see the new recorder moving forward and adopting a more widely used memory.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

Maybe I should run memory sticks in the m-10 seeing that I plan on buying the d-50.

^^^ Good thought, but they use two different sizes of memory stick (the M10 uses the Memory Stick Micro)...

Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info. I guess I will stick with the 16gb micro SD cards in the m-10.

Thanks for the links but it will be a week or two before I can make the purchase. I have a feeling that these may go quick at these prices and I won't have a chance to bid. If any of these d-50's are still around I will try to snatch one up for cheap.

Now there's a brand new one for $334.50 w/warranty
http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PCM-D50-Digital-Recorder-w-Global-Shipping-NEW-/360255575260?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e0e7d4dc

^^
The price above is $434.50 not $334.50.

 ;)

It is now. It wasn't for 24 hours or so. Seller made the mistake and just corrected it. I should have bought at $334 even though I don't need one.

Thanks for pointing out the change.

I hear you.  I don't need another two channel recorder either but at that price I was tempted.  Thanks for the tip.
