« on: June 26, 2010, 12:42:03 PM »
i was rather surprised i searched the forum for 'bungee' and found references to bungee cords but no actual threads discussing them. so i don't own any and was just wondering where folks are buying them, what kinds work best for our taping purposes (i.e. bungeeing a stand to a corner of a SBD booth), etc.? quick googling found this website: http://www.bungeeco.com/ but they have so many different kinds to choose from. thoughts?

Home Depot or Lowes will suit you fine.  I have a couple of 12 inch ones as well as one a bit longer I use to wrap my extension pole to my stand for carrying.

Yes bungee cords can be an invaluable resourse especially when clamping or space is limited. I always carry a few of different sizes and lengths - depends on what you can fit in yer gear bag. You can buy them everywhere too.

My advice-use caution. try not to set them at eye level. a guy i know lost his to a bungee cord accident. if your stretching it to the max at it lets go......watch out. if the cord is worn or something not right, shit can it, they are cheap. i carry four+ usually-all different sizes. in a bar they're great to bungee a closed stand to a pole

There are two basic types, solid rubber and those that look like rope.   The rope style offer a greater range of stretch and are far better suited to wrapping around your stand, etc.  The solid ones tend to be too inelastic.

Discount stores should have cheap assortments.

I think I bought a plastic "can" of them from Wal Mart or Lowes which contains several different lengths.  I don't think I paid more than $10 or so for probably a dozen of them.
