I'm not finding the russian Nevaton website to check the actual spelling in Russian, but I'd guess it is:

NYEV-ah-tuhn or perhaps NYEV-ah-tahn
Mics: Microtech Gefell m20/m21 (nbob/pfa actives), Line Audio CM3, Church CA-11 cards

It's probably nyeh-vah-TOHN by Russian pronunciation. All short vowel sounds, though the o is halfway between short and long. Hard to explain. The river is pronounced nyeh-VAH.

This is correct.  My post is the Dirty South pronunciation... >:D

My rep says "nehv-a-tone" but the tech (who is Russian) says it "nyeh-va-tohn".

A Ukrainian colleague gave this as his pronunciation too. --->  "nyeh-va-tohn"

You can hear the exact pronunciation in this interview with Lonya Nenashev from Nevaton- go to 21:27 after the file buffers:

http://sessionswithslau.com/winter-namm-2009/

Also some interesting comments about the Nevaton factory in St. Petersburg, which is why I revived this old post.

A matched set of MCE400s is on it's way to my front door, thanks to TNJazz- can't wait to try these out!

My wife is Russian, so I showed her the MC49's on Dirk's website and I asked her how to pronounce "Nevaton"

She said: "There is no way in Hell you're buying another set of microphones, so don't even think about it"

Funny, that didn't sound Russian at all.
