Pimping out the rig
« on: March 14, 2004, 02:53:28 AM »
Hey everyone. For now, I'm running MC012s on a Bogen 17' pole, with AT8415 shockmounts, a SabraSom T-mount with a microphone / photo adapter and black cheapo Monster Cable XLRs. So it's functional, but it looks very ghetto. I want to step up the image a bit.

So I'm looking to get a good vert bar of some kind, and also some lower profile shockmounts. Lastly, I want to get some Canare XLRs with Neutrik connectors, but I'm not all that great in my technical skills, I'd prefer someone with more experience build them, and I'd happily pay them (within reason). I think Giant Squid builds those cables. (Can I get blue/red or orange/green?)

I'm looking to make the rig look more presentable this year before I hit the road for the summer shows. Budget is probably around $150 for everything, right? Thanks for any suggestions.

the shure a27m IMO is the best vert bar around, good vertical spacing of the mics, the ability to do xy, ortf, din, a/b, etc...  the at shockmounts you should keep, unless im thinking the 15's are the regular shocks and not the universals.  you can get canare neutrik parts from markertek or you can buy custom builds from micsupply, kindkables or have someone build them for you and there are many people on this board that im sure would be willing to help you out.  good luck with your new pimp gear

flashing leds are cheap at Ratshack, and don't forget a stuffed animal.
Hippos, chickens, Elmos, Barney are already in use........
Maybe something pimped out & furry like a cheetah....

Will TLs in standard shockmounts fit on an a27m ?

Nevermind got it.
Shure A27M Factsheet attached.

I've got some octavas that I run in at8415s on a shure vert bar.  I've been thinking of getting the shure shockmounts as well, they're much smaller than the at's...
