LOL

Those are different mics for a different purpose.  ::)

The three main cardioid pairs I use are:- Sennheiser MKH 40, MKH 8040 and Gefell M300.

I love the tone of the Sennheiser 8000 series.  Plus they are great in humid conditions.  There were some issues early on with grounding, but they fixed that.
And they are prices really well.
I have a pair of 8020s and 8060s.  I would love a pair of 8040s to have as my own.

And their customer support is very good, which is always important.

I would say that the MKH 8040 are very neutral - the designer said that they were the most uncoloured mics that Sennheiser had ever made.

Exactly what I'm looking for.  I'm sold!  Will be ordering MHK8040 pairs (as soon as I can sell some other photo stuff to raise fund!).

yahoo!!! ...and congratulations.  8)

Have you considered 8020s?  Here is a choir concert recorded with 8020s: http://youtu.be/4sFS2fHBrdA?t=2m35s

Perhaps the subcardioids to split the difference (if you will only have one option).
