On the DR60 MKII, to record from a SBD into the 1/8 input of channel 3/4, I’m feeling like an attenuator would be helpful unless you can work with the engineer to give a lower signal. What have people found is a good pad generally? Would -12 get me to a safe level? I see a lot of people like the Shure with 3 settings. I have yet to get a SBD feed but I’m optimistic!

Me again... would there be any sonic or usability (I'm thinking easier gain monitor and adjustment) to having one of the old Sound Devices Mix Pre 2ch preamp before the DR-60? Or in 2026 is the answer ditch both and grab a Zoom F3 or H6 Studio (I'd want 4ch for matrix)

I'd grab an H6studio. The newer Zoom H STUDIO series (not the older H series) uses F-series preamps which are an upgrade on the older Tascam units. I'd even argue an H6essential would be an upgrade, I've had really good results with an H1essential.
