Hey Viao users, what is your power solution?
« on: April 13, 2004, 12:25:07 AM »
This is my first laptop so be gentle. I hear the Vaio is hot swappable. But I can only see one port for a battery and when trying to pull the Lion battery out the lappy dies. So if this is the case, what makes it hot swappable? When I check the battery status it shows that it's possible to have two bats. But I have no clue.
Thx in advance.
Jason

I'm guessing there is an additional bay that will take a battery, perhaps wherever your CDRom currently is? What model VAIO, that could help....
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

well, i run a c1vp (a dressed up c1vn)

and the power options were pretty dismall for my model. as it only takes one battery, and 12 external wouldnt cut it through the plug in port

i currently run a custom power supply

it consists of a 1x capacity battery used as a dummy battery, and has a power cable wired to the inside and terminates to a 4 pin. and i have a 12.6v 11.2ah l-ion battery pack for it that terminates to a 4 pin. this gives me 10-11 hours of recording time

dont ask me where i had it made, cause i dont know who made it, i bought it from someone not on this board. but i might be able to find out if someone was really interested

Hey Mirth,
You are exactly right, the extra battery port was in the same port as the optical drive. It had to be removed to find it.  Thanks a ton for the pointer!!!!

I was thinking of going the N-Charge route. My model is the PCG-GRZ630.

very happy N-Charge user her. I run my vaio pcg-grs700k when taping w/ 2 internal batteries as well as the n-charge. never had a power issue in the field yet.

I like the new version of the battery system they have but I am hoping that the new version will drive the price of the older N-charge down so I can get a 2nd for festival taping although my internals would probably give me enough time to recharge the N-charge
