All i need to do is figure out a way to attach a superclamp to the stand at table-top height, then clamp it to the table.

You can mate two superclamps together and clamp one to the table and one to the stand. If you get the angles right it's very sturdy.

As far sturdying up a stand to something this works great clamped to a stand with a superclamp on the other end to whatever you can find thats solid. I always plug this thing cuz i use it more than stands or anything else.
