Also the level display needs be fixed to show dbFS.

My number one request correctable via firmware is choice of FS or VU metering.
Displaying metering while playing back should be easy to accommodate as well.

Specifically, I'm asking if the PR-2 will record audio internally to itself and simultaneously output timecode over its 1/8 or not?

That's the question.  I don't know the answer. I've only used timecode to sync two PR-2s wirelessly via the Sidus app, but presumably it is possible to send analog timecode out the 1/8" monitor jack while recording if the menu Output Setting is configured as "LTC-3V", yet it is possible that function is effectively disabled on the US version as a byproduct of the removal of audio passthrough.

You really nailed the correct way to describe the potential issue I'm concerned about. I've submitted my question to Deity to see what answer they have.

The Nikon camera I plan to use does not have a direct input for timecode. It only has 1/8 microphone input which means the timecode has to be input into the camera audio track as LTC-3V as you say and then further converted when the video is processed later.

I'll be interested to see if the PR-4 comes in at a price point where I could use it for sync'd audio and use the PR-2 to input LTC-3v into my camera.

You already have the PR-2, correct?  If so you should be able to test this yourself by switching Output Setting to LTC-3V, starting a recording and listening for time code out of the 1/8" monitor output, or just route that output to another recorder, adjust gain and visually check for time code signal on its meters.

If that works, then play with either 'Y'ing the LTC to both DR-680 and camera, or chaining to camera through the DR-680

What am I not understanding about the TC question?
https://m. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rBALKBLfE78&pp=ygUNUHItMiB0aW1lY29kZQ%3D%3D.com/watch?v=rBALKBLfE78&pp=ygUNUHItMiB0aW1lY29kZQ%3D%3D
Towards the end it talks about using the output to send the TC via LTC-3v
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2, AT853 w/4.7 mod
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

The video you linked demonstrates how to output via LTC-3v into a camera.  I want to do that, but also want to be able to record audio directly into the PR-2 at the same time.  One reviewer on Amazon says it can't be done.  Another Q&A response at BH photo seems to say it can be done.  Me, IDK?

I'm actually debating which of three approaches to use for this recording.

Option 1:  use a pair of DPA 4061s to record directly into the PR-2 while sending TC out to my camera (if possible).  This would be a very compact and least visible setup.

Option 2:  use my DR680 to have more channels available to separately mic the piano and soloists, but also send TC into the DR680 and my camera from the PR-2 via a splitter cable so I only have to have one timecode device.  This gives me more editing flexibility, but also means I have to mix the channels in post.

OPtion 3:  use my SD702 to record in mid-side so I'm not having to do much of any mix-down of the audio, but still have a little flexibility in editing.  Sync the audio and the video later in Resolve. Don't bother with any time code.

Recording quality doesn't have to be pristine.  It's just a college choir.

it doesn’t make sense to me why you couldn’t, what would be the point of sending time code to a video with nothing time coding?
The whole point would be to have a time code of the audio you are recording g to match the video

I don’t have any thing that accepts time code but I could record my tv or something while having the time code out turned on and see if it saves the audio

Been super pleased with AT853 cards and this, perfect low-profile setup. Debated using a 9V battery box tonight, but after hearing the results without it, I'm pretty sure I'll never need to use one. Here's to more tapes!

Finally gave my PR2 a test run with the 4061s. Came out great and was good to test some gain settings at a show I didn't need to record. Glad to have a backup for when the phone rig is unusable

On my PR-2, when I go Menu > Mode > Track > I only have two options, "Mono" and "Stereo", and for Stereo there are no options.  I can't find any option to link the gain for both channels.

Menu > Mode > Track > Stereo Dual Gain > Off.

Where is the setting to link gain adjustment together?

DPA 4061 > PR 2 rig, fully contained in hat.

..which becomes a four channel rig when used in combination with the sunglasses rig.

I've had the sunglasses /croakies rig operational for the past year and a half or so. Effective, but I've missed using my preferred 4 channel LRCB recording configuration I was using previously via 4ch-CA-Ugly > Dr2d.  So built a another 4061 > PR2 rig into the hat to run the center and back channels.  4061 mounted under brim in front and at arch in back over adjustment band. PR2 and wiring is coiled inside the trucker cap forehead space. Clean gaffer taping contains and conceals. Nicely self contained and unnoticeable during a quick doff /don of the hat.  L/R mic pair on sunglasses worn normally with recorder carried in pocket.  May revise to house both recorders in hat if there is sufficient space and it doesn't get overly heavy.

The two recorders are sync'd and controlled via phone app.
