Are your trying to read the card on a computer or doing a file transfer of the data from the MixPre via USB?

Tried a card reader and the file transfer mode, neither work. Gonna set up outputs 1-4 as USB and try it in real time to audacity

You do have it connected over USB-C port, right?
Make sure you have not set USB-C to “Power only”.

Well I got the card to read on the computer.
Had to un-write-protect it, which makes no sense.

Hi i have a mixpre6 first gen this is the second issue ive had with this thing.  funny both at phish shows at the hollywood bowl second sets..years apart.  The first the second set it crashed because the card wasn't fast enough. bought a new card that was faster supposedly and i got the first set no problem. Thought i got the second set and its on the card but it wont play, it like 1.35 gig so the info is there.  I cant open it on the computer and now the Mixpre6 wont recognize the card anymore?  wtf. i have the latest firmware on the machine.  This is the brand of the card that it won't read anymore out of nowhere Lexar 64gb 633x 95mb/s

So now i went to SD website looked at the compatible 64 gig cards and bought one of those.  Anyway i can fix or open this file or send it one of you guys to open? thanks

try rebooting the machine with the card in it- retry a few times if necessary. Insert and remove card. Try with and without write protection...

So when in a card reader on PC, the card is recognzed, the file is shown as 1.35GB, but when you try to copy it to PC it fails, right?
In that case I'd try to create a disk image of the card and read the image as 'raw data' into your audio editior. I'd by happy to help if needed (either by giving more details directions or trying myself). I am located in The Netherlands...

Morst, whats up...Todd here from Palm Springs area.  taped at Pappy and harriets alonggg time ago, you use to tape there right?   anyway, that did the trick,  i just put the card back in MP powered up and it recognized the card, played the second set.  I pulled the card put in the card reader..Yes worked on the Mac..transferred to HD, good to go thanks    Ya there was definitely something happening with the transfer i guess from the card reader to the Mac? thx

there is NO reason that stupid trick should work but I am GLAD AS HECK that it did for ya!


Yep, I recorded Camper/ Cracker campouts at P&H for 14 years, from 2006-2019... made a few other tapes there... Mother Hips did a fest one year with Los Lobos the week after the Cramper thing and that was worth sticking around for...


I appear to have posted 136 recordings from Pappy & Harriets (not 100% mine, for instance the Zwan set with Dave Navarro).
You might know this or not - the owners during the time I was going regularly (annually) sold to a new management group which started fighting amongst itself.
There was a lawsuit.
Settled in late 2024 I think, and I hear that the venue has some or most of its mojo back now.

whoa ya you did tape alot there!   i remember asking you where i should clamp my mics inside the first time i went.   Ya i heard it went through some changes and i havent been in years to be honest because of that.  I think they went anti taper too during that time? and heard some not so good thing about the owners. Good to hear its its headed in the right direction.   Ive been kinda retired from taping for last few years but i have seen some acts that i should have went up to see. ill have to get up there again soon. its only 45 min from me haha. thanks for the help.

Ya i just clamped to this wood beam right behind the SBD and always came out really good.  I ran my telefunken tubes from there sometimes as well

Well I got the card to read on the computer.

ok if the mac had to fix a file error then this does make sense.

I need some help figuring out what went wrong.

Mixpre-6 vii recording to my normal 64GB card
Mid side on 1&2 signal coming in from PSP2, SBD over 1/4" on 3&4 line in
Recorded at 32/48
Firmware 9.00

When I split my polys into 1-2 and 3-4, both pairs sound like the music is there somewhere, but loud, heavy, shortwave radio sounding—horrible-looking wave forms.

I understand messing up on the mics with mic in, line in, 48v, whatever, but the simple line in too? Something odd is going on here

Replying a bit late to this, but this is how I often use mine. It's Baseus Magsafe 10000mAh 30W power bank (https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/dp/B0CM5MLZG3?) which I attach using a Sabrent rubber-coat magnetic mount (the 66mm version – https://www.amazon.nl/-/en/dp/B081BFQ7NN?). I originally bought this to power my camcorder for long periods of time but discovered that it works really well with the MP6II as well. I don't use any specific sound bag or such so this helps keeping things tidy in the bag.

I should add that the magsafe function isn't necessary because the magnet will attract almost every power bank. I have a tiny excellent (but sadly no longer made) Ravpower 10k mAh power bank which also works. For me this is the sweet spot in terms of power and portability. But the shape of the Baseus battery is good, I find, as it's comparably flat. The built-in and rather short cable is also really handy. Anker makes a similar, slightly slimmer 10k battery but without built-in cable.

I see USB C and a camcorder style. Does anyone prefer one over the other for whatever reason(s)?
